Sebastián Cortés — English–Spanish translator in Chile.

Sebastián Cortés Sepúlveda, English–Spanish translator in Chile

I help people and organizations communicate accurately when documents have legal, financial, corporate or personal consequences. I handle each assignment directly, from initial review through final delivery.

Specialization and personal responsibility

I am Sebastián Cortés Sepúlveda, founder of Cortés Traducciones. My professional practice focuses on English–Spanish translation and localization, with seven years of professional experience.

I work with law firms, businesses, institutions and individuals. Terminology, traceability, formatting and clear communication are central to how I approach sensitive documents.

Professional credentials

I am listed as a translator expert with Chile’s Judiciary and am a member of the Colegio de Traductores e Intérpretes de Chile (COTICH), No. 514. These are separate professional credentials, with different roles.

A translator’s certification statement and Chilean Advanced Electronic Signature (FEA) are available when appropriate to the agreed service. Neither creates universal acceptance or substitutes for a required MINREL translation.

Areas of work

My assignments include:

  • Legal and court documents: contracts, judgments, powers and case materials.
  • Financial documents: statements, notes, audit reports and IFRS reporting.
  • Corporate documents: governance, due diligence, compliance and business communication.
  • Certified and personal records: civil, immigration, academic and institutional documentation.

Working with clients in Chile and overseas

The intended recipient, jurisdiction and purpose shape the translation scope. Before work begins, I confirm language direction, format, certification needs, price and timing.

My work is between English and Spanish, with particular attention to Latin American Spanish and documents connected to Chile. Professional profiles are linked below for further background.

Two document routes, one direct contact

For Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States, the project brief establishes readers, terminology and register for documents such as policies, contracts and education records. For international clients operating in Chile, it identifies the bank, adviser or institution and the purpose of each record.

I work remotely from Chile. You can start with a description of the documents and any contracting or handling requirements; scope, availability, delivery and terms are confirmed before an assignment begins.

Before you send your documents

Will I communicate directly with Sebastián?

Yes. The service is based on direct communication with the professional reviewing and delivering the assignment.

Where can I review professional background?

Use the linked COTICH, ProZ and LinkedIn profiles. Court-expert work and certification modalities are explained separately on this site.

Do the credentials guarantee acceptance?

No. The receiving court, university, agency or other institution determines its own requirements.

Have a document for review?

Describe the documents, readers, purpose and any recipient instructions. Start without attachments if needed. You’ll receive a proposal with scope, timing and price before work begins.
